More train stories
Continuing the theme of talking at random strangers had a good chat with someone on the way back from London the other day.
Rather than recount the whole thing here, there were some good nuggets:
There is a magazine based in Brighton for young and trendy golfers (never knew they existed)! called Golf Punk looks like fun, a sort of FHM for golf.
The lady I was talking to also told me (when reminded by someone near us) that one time she was nearly punched in the face for asking someone to turn their music down. Nice.

Snowy Brighton Morning
along with much of the UK we woke up to snow this morning, and apart from 1 inch of snow causing chaos on the roads / railways etc as we seemingly can not deal with it in this country … it made things look quite pretty.
So instead of spending 45 mins on my turbo trainer (its a bike thing) this morning i took a walk down to the beach …
seems like i was not alone in my thoughts and Town and to a lesser extent the beach was filled with people taking photos and wanting (I am sure) to upload them to thier photo sharing website of choice

Razorlight on Brighton Beach
Last night, as I was on the train home, I over heard a chap talking about a secret Razorlight gig on Brighton Beach. Knowing that Bru (biz partner) is a bit keen on the band, I called him up and said we should go down there. after a bit of checking on the web it was confirmed to be the real Razorlight playing etc… so we headed down via a beer seller.
As you can see from the photo it was a hot evening and it was a full on set up too. Seems Channel 4 were filming it for playing out tonight.
The band were excellent, and having never seen them live before I now like them even more. They played for about an hour with a mixture of songs from their last album and a few from the new including starting with their current single.
all in all a good night.

Royal Sovereign Race (I and II)
This weekend was spend racing to Eastbourne via the Royal Sovereign platform on Saturday, and racing back directly to Shoreham on the Sunday.
here is one of us on the Saturday, a beautiful day with enough breeze to get us there on the cruising chute
we won the race down there, which was great and on Sunday we turned around and came back, racing from Eastbourne to Beachy Head and back to Shoreham.
the conditions were big, with 25-35 knots of wind and some fairly large waves. After some mistakes at the start we managed to pull it together and get back in good time, only just loosing out on first place.
overall we came 1st for the event as the race down counts for more points. This is one better than we did last year.

the new sails - a picture
finally a picture of the new sails, they are very good, but so far untested in stronger winds. We are learning to pack them away after each race and look after them. What we need next is the sailmaker to come down for a day and help us tune our rig to match the new sails and see if we really can get the boat going.
(ps we are still not doing too well in light winds)!
