Sheep on the line …
Recently we were running slowly on the train in from Brighton to London when we heard the following announcement:
“I am sorry for the delay, but there seem to be sheep on the line!” – the guard was trying not to laugh as he told us this and cut himself off before he guffawed (I guess)
So this is Sussex … it is the countryside but not truly rural, not the west country, Scotland or Wales – so sheep eh ?
was it the wrong kind of sheep ? one sheep ? a whole flock ? the left over mess of a / many sheep ?
at least it elicited a laugh from the commuters on the train, and kept my mind occupied for at least 10 mins.
