why does a dog wag its tail?
Desmond Morris in his 1986 book Dogwatching says that it is something to do with a conflict between the feeling of “I am happy to see you” and “you are my master so I am slightly fearful” thus setting off a reaction which ends up in the tail wagging.
Others just reckon there is too much energy in the dog and this is a way of getting rid of it.
anyway in context ...
sitting on the train, pretty girl starts talking to you …
gosh she is attractive and you are happy
oh dear I do not want to make a fool of my self … the fear
add to this – you are a commuter and do not want to talk to anyone as they might be mad …
result … your tail starts wagging (metaphorically at least)
thus if you, are a girl and you really want to make some one squirm, spark up a random conversation and see what happens.
wags tail
