Nice design and nice blockquote, but people (well, me anyway) might find it hard to read it with light text on dark backgrounds. I’d be looking at making all of the greys lighter so you can switch to darker text on lighter backgrounds. But that’s just me :)

yup, I needed to get the template working first before i started to look at editing the gradients to get dark text on a light background … I guessed you might point this one out! its odd though cause a lot of the hi-viz styles for accessibility such as BBC’s Betsie (http://betsie.sourceforge.net/) use light text on dark backgrounds, I guess at the end of the day it is down to personal prefs (anyway you use your RSS reader to view my ramblings)!!

Dunno why Betsie renders in light on dark – there are many studies that show that dark on light is read quicker and more accurately than the reverse. So perhaps it’s because Betsie privileges something specific to accessibility over general readability somehow (btw is it still the gold standard of accessibility these days? I really don’t know.) But I just won’t read light on dark, it breaks my eyes.
